Safeguarding and Child Protection
Aims
- To provide a secure environment in which the basic rights of each individual are respected, protected and safe-guarded.
- To create an atmosphere in which pupils feel at liberty to share concerns about child abuse.
- To create awareness amongst staff of the symptoms of possible child abuse and the correct procedure for dealing with such.
Reporting Procedures
1. In order to report abuse, contacts are the Designated Teacher, Mr Christy or the Deputy Designated Teachers, Ms McDermott or Mrs Nicholl
2. If the allegation related to a member of staff, the contact is the Designated Teacher, Mr Christy, who reports to the Chairman (or Vice Chairman) of the Board of Governors and the Principal.
3. If the allegation related to the Principal, the contact is the Designated Teacher, Mr Christy who reports to the Chair (or Vice Chairman) of the Board of Governors.
All allegations of abuse are reported to the Chairman of the Board of Governors and are recorded confidentially.
