Schools' Cup result:

The 1st XV played Grosvenor on Saturday morning, in horrendous conditions. In driving rain and a bone chilling wind, the 1st XV emerged as winners from the match 10 – 8.

Mathew Coffey opened the scoring for the BGS team, with a top class individual try from half way. McCloskey added the conversion for BGS to reclaim the lead at 7 -5.

A Grosvenor penalty swayed the lead back to the home team however after a good period of team play BGS were awarded another penalty, and McCloskey held his nerve to split the posts and BGS took the lead once more.

The score stayed the same for the remaining 10 minutes and although Grosvenor managed to put BGS under pressure the 1st XV held on and progress to the next round.

The draw was also made on Saturday for the next round of the cup. BGS have drawn Sullivan Upper, at BGS. The match will be played on Saturday 9th Feb.

Many thanks to all who attended the match to show your support.

Congratulations to the Junior ‘B’ and Junior ‘C’ Badminton teams who both drew 3-3 against a strong team from Dominican College, Portstewart on Friday afternoon.
