Northern Ireland Schools Debating Cup Winners!

Our Debating Team of Jack Steen (Y14) and Archie Arran (Y12) have won the prestigious Northern Ireland Schools Debating Cup after triumphing in the final on Friday 28th April.

Jack and Archie defeated a very impressive team from Belfast Royal Academy in a thrilling final, held at Queen’s University Belfast. They successfully defeated the motion ‘This House would not be sorry if Stormont was not restored’, assisted by a large team of supporters who had a chance to contribute by asking questions and offering statements during the open phase of the debate.

This victory secures Bangor Grammar School’s position as the most successful school in the history of the competition, having won on five occasions and come second on seven since 1995. As the school’s Debating Society approaches its 90th birthday, it can be proud of its long history of success.
