Michael Deane opens Home Economics Department

Michelin star winning chef and business entrepreneur Michael Deane was warmly welcomed to Bangor Grammar on Wednesday 6th May to officially open the school's brand new state-of-the-art Home Economics Department.
We were joined by the  Mayor of North Down and other distinguished guests to celebrate this significant landmark in the history of the school, which provides the first opportunity for our boys to study Home Economics to GCSE and Advanced Level.
The Department has already achieved

success since the subject was introduced earlier in the year, with Junior School pupil Kurt Simpson reaching the final of the Dairy Council’s Young Cook of the Year competition.
Michael kindly took time out of his busy schedule to chat with some Year 9 pupils about their own career aspirations in the catering industry and we were delighted to gain a personal insight into his exciting life as an internationally acclaimed chef.
