DramaBGS presents two exciting new adaptations of William Shakespeare’s Macbeth and The Taming of the Shrew.

MACBETH: This intensely physical, modern interpretation of Shakespeare’s tale of witchcraft and madness is staged over a breathless 30 minutes. With an original electronic soundtrack, contemporary costume and minimal staging, it demonstrates the timeless quality of Shakespeare’s writing. The performance is also part of the 2015 Schools Shakespeare Festival and will be performed both in the school and at the MAC Theatre, Belfast.

THE TAMING OF THE SHREW: This production aims to show audiences the full comic potential of Shakespeare’s play and recreating the vivid theatrical experience of the Globe theatre in the 16th century through the use of Elizabethan costumes, boy-players and live music.

Both plays will be relevant to teachers of English, Drama and History, showing how these classic texts are brought to life from page to stage. For teachers of Edexcel A2 Drama & Theatre Studies, this event will provide a practical demonstration of original performance conditions.
