Debating Team Knocked Out of NI Schools' Competition

Scott McWhinney and Ryan Cushley represented the school in the quarter finals of the Northern Ireland Schools' Debating Competition in Lisburn yesterday. In an exciting debate which drew high praise from the Adjudicator, the boys were narrowly beaten by the girls of Thornhill College, Derry. A group of supporters accompanied the team and participated enthusiastically when the debate was thrown open to the floor. They, too, were praised by the Adjudicator.

This is the second year that the BGS team has been beaten in the quarter-final. Last year, one of the team, Jamie Ritchie, impressed the adjudicators so much that he found a place in the final for individual speakers, which he duly won.
