Creating Innovators at BGS!

Year 11 Business Studies pupils were fortunate enough this week to receive a visit from Ronan Trainor and Karen Loughry from Invest NI. Ronan and Karen outlined some of the reasons for writing a business plan, financial support available locally, as well as some of the common mistakes that budding entrepreneurs make in drawing up their plans!

The boys have already set up and run their own companies this year through the Young Enterprise “Quickstart” programme, so this visit comes at a time when the pupils are reflecting on their experiences and thinking about “the next big thing”! During the talk, they heard about a number of local firms who have recently benefitted from Invest NI help, such as SeeSEnse and Brewbot, so they were able to see that they can be innovators right here in Northern Ireland!

Pictured with the pupils are Mr Josh Haylett, student teacher, who organised the visit, also Ronan Trainor and Karen Loughry from Invest NI.
