BGS gets a dose of 'stiff upper lip'
The Senior Philosophy Society has persuaded over 40 staff and pupils to take part in ‘Stoic Week’ - an international challenge organised by some of Britain’s leading university philosophy faculties. Participants will be putting Stoicism’s notoriously rigorous and austere theories into practice - in the hope that it will lead to more contented, fulfilled lives. In fact, there is much, much more to Stoicism than a ‘stiff upper lip’. It was the most influential philosophy in the classical world and is attracted a great deal of renewed interest today. Does it work though? BGS intends to find out.
