BGS Reach Final of NI Schools' Debating Competition

On Friday 27 March, the BGS Debating team of William McKeown (Year 14) and Luke Garbutt (Year 12) defeated Rathmore Grammar School in the semi-final of the prestigious Northern Ireland Schools' Debating Competition. They go on to the final to face Our Lady and St Patrick's College, who got the better of St Malachy's College in the other exciting match.
BGS's record in this competition is second to none and the boys go into the final, to be held in the Senate Chamber of the Parliament Buildings at Stormont on Friday 24 April, with high hopes. They know that it will be an evenly balanced contest against a very fine Our Lady's and St Patrick's team. Given that 72 schools began the contest, we know that only the best will get through to the last round. Well done, boys, and good luck!
Thank you, too, to all staff, who have given so generously of their time to help the team reach this point.
