BGS Irish Schools' Bridge Champions 2007

In Galway at the weekend, BGS won the Irish Schools' Teams Bridge Championship, beating respected adversaries BRA, who have held the trophy for six years, into second place. The team, consisting of Wayne Somerville, Ian Jones (both Upper Sixth), Andrew Clegg (Year 12) and Lee Williams (Year 11), won all their matches and ended overall winners with 417 points, 68 ahead of BRA. This score exceeds last year's winning score by 75 points and is a formidable total.
The school's second team, Michael Coffey, Charlie Clegg, Jordan Donley and Jordan Atchinson, came tenth overall with a score of 285, while the third team, Thomas Wood, William and Philip McKeown and Graham Dickson, came thirteenth with 282 points. The trophy will be formally presented to the school at Senior Assembly on Wednesday 14 March.
