Bangor Grammar School

Citizenship

All pupils receive timetabled Citizenship classes in Junior School. 

Topics are: 

YEAR 8: Being a citizen of Bangor Grammar School, poverty, social justice, Human rights 

YEAR 9: Climate change, waste, local government policy on climate, Good Friday Agreement 

Year 10: Active Citizenship, the role of the police, the role of the ambulance service/paramedics, the role of the courts and justice system 

In middle and senior school, we bring in a range of speakers and drama groups to deliver content. 

Citizenship is also delivered within the teaching of all other subjects in the curriculum eg. Texts in English, project work in Art, government policy in Biology etc.
